As the largest stockists of Yanmar TNV engines in the UK PES always pride themselves on being able to supply most Yanmar TNV engines to any customer on a next day delivery basis as long as its ordered before midday. However, even we were surprised at the speed of a new Yanmar 4TNV88 engine supplied to MJL Plant Hire (Cornwall) Ltd this week.

MJL are already a customer of ours buying Thwaites dumper parts from us for their fleet of hire machines and contracting arm, MJL Contractors Ltd, who carry out groundworks and civil engineering all over the south-west. Our Parts Department received a call from one of their fitters enquiring about a Yanmar 4TNV88 engine for an Amman roller which had gone down on a site in Exeter. We got the required spec from the fitter who was stood next to the machine, went on the Yanmar portal to look at the spec and found we had an engine in stock that was suitable all within 60 seconds of him ringing PES. He than rang the head office at Helston, they approved it and he rang back, again within 60 seconds of PES quoting, saying the office would e-mail an order number through and they would be up to collect it shortly.

We just about had enough time to fire the forklift up and get in the engine store to get it out before an MJL service van came in the yard, stopped, opened the rear doors and allowed the forklift to put the Yanmar 4TNV88 engine in the back. Doors then closed and he drove off!!!!

The whole process from the initial enquiry to the van driving out the yard was about 15 minutes which has got to be a record for both the sale of and the purchase and collection of an engine.

You can only do that if you invest in stock and you know what you are doing which is why as well as being the largest supplier of Yanmar engines in the UK we are also the largest supplier of Thwaites, Terex, Terex/JCB and Barford dumper spare parts in the UK as well.

If anybody out there fancies a challenge see if you can beat MJL’s time for the purchase of an engine!!!!

Our thanks as well to MJL for their continued custom and business and being part of the creation of a little part of history. A bit over-dramatic I know but it makes a good headline………………
