Its now nearly six months since PES converted to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) and 100% of PES then belonged to the employees. It’s true what they say about time flying when you’re having fun and the last 6 months have gone by in a flash!!!
Nothing has really changed with the employees, their work ethic, knowledge and interest hasn’t sky-rocketed as they always acted like it was their business anyway. A lot of business owners moan about their employees being the bane of their life but that was never the case at PES as our long-standing employees have always been the back-bone of the company.
It’s good to know that the future of the business is secured at Exeter and the employees will all share in the profits of the business. If the previous owners had sold the business to another company who knows what might have happened, there was a very good chance that the character of the business would have changed for the worse and it might have even left the west-country.
Let’s hope our incumbent government doesn’t completely wring the last dregs of confidence out of the construction industry and 2026 turns out to be a better year than 2025. Whatever happens PES will still be here and will still be the biggest supplier of Thwaites, Terex, Terex/JCB and Mecalac dumper parts in the UK as well as the largest stockist of Yanmar engines and PES employees will benefit from the fruits of their labour as an EOT.
