We are pleased to announce that as from 16 September 2025 PES has become an Employee Owned Trust (EOT). This means that all employees effectively become owners of PES and benefit from a share of any future profits as well as receiving their salaries.
The success of PES is built around its employees, a large majority of them have been with the company in excess of 20 years and have a natural entrepreneurial outlook that has benefitted and ensured the previous success of the company. The founders of PES realised if at some point the business was sold to an outside investor, this entrepreneurial aspect might be curtailed and the business stifled by a bureaucratic, report-based culture. Even worse any new owner may not realise the unique nature of the PES operations and simply think that it’s just a bunch of parts/machinery/engines, move it to some warehouse in the Midlands and make all the employees redundant. Whatever new ownership meant there was the potential for change and not necessarily change for the best.
As an EOT the business is run for the benefit of the employees not for investing shareholders. There is no change in the management structure of the business, its business as usual with the same people doing the same thing, even the original founders are still at PES. What it does is secure the future of the business in Exeter, secure the future of the existing employees and also provide a structure where they directly financially benefit from their collective efforts.
It’s good news all round, both customers and suppliers can rest assure that nothing is changing and our relationship with both remains the same. We’ll still be giving a first class service for Thwaites/Terex/Terex/JCB and Mecalac parts, still be supplying Thwaites dumpers, Volvo excavators, OKB, Epiroc and Augertorque hydraulic attachments and Winget mixers to our west country customers and supplying Yanmar engines to the whole of the world!!! All of our suppliers can have confidence that we’ll still be paying our bills the same time, every month without fail as we always have done.
We’re exceptionally proud that we are now an EOT, look out for the words ‘an employee owned company’ on paperwork etc and look forward to another 30 years of being the successful company we’ve been thanks to our employees.
