The Vibroll VM71 pedestrian roller, in our humble opinion, is the best walk behind pedestrian roller currently available on the market. It’s predecessor, if you can remember that far back, was the Stothert & Pitt single drum roller which was revolutionary at its launch. The Vibroll VM71 has evolved from the Stothert & Pitt and is a well-engineered item of construction equipment made in Rutland, England which discerning, professional users recognise as being the premium roller currently available.

So, why is it so good you might ask? You’re biased as you sell it!!! If we start at the heart of the roller, the engine, the Vibroll VM 71 is powered by a 6.8kW Yanmar L100V air-cooled diesel engine. The Yanmar LV series engine is the best single cylinder diesel engine available on the market and is also the biggest selling. Any small piece of equipment seems to have one on and although Hatz and Lombardini produce similar products, the Yanmar LV is a far superior product. Unusually for a market -leader, the replacement costs of a Yanmar LV engine is extremely competitive against the Lombardini and far cheaper than the Hatz. Should the battery go flat for whatever reason the built-in rope pull start will easily start the engine, no looking for a starting handle which has gone missing or is back in the workshop.

The Vibroll also has a plastic water tank which doesn’t rust on the inside and clog up the dribble bar, a continual problem with other manufacturers older style rollers, and both the hydraulic gauge and ignition switch are protected with metal shrouds that form part of the panel work so they don’t get inadvertently knocked and damaged.

The hydraulic package runs both the drive system and the vibration, no belt driven clutch to slip when you want to vibrate just flick a lever and the vibration is hydraulically engaged and driven giving you a smooth transition when you turn it on and off. All the bearings are proper engineered bearings from reputable brands such as SKF, no bearings made from recycled baked bean tins will be found in a Vibroll roller so they’re not going to fail prematurely.

The engine is securely mounted to the chassis via 4 rubber engine mounts, making the arm/hand vibration levels experienced by the operator on the handle exceptionally low therefore making it a safe machine to operate over an extended period of time.

So, there you have it. All the reasons that we think make the Vibroll VM 71 roller the best one currently on the market should be what you are looking for when you need a roller. If you’re interested in a new roller and you are looking to move away from the traditional Brands of pedestrian roller why not give Mike or Laura a ring and talk about the benefits of owning a Vibroll VM71.
