If you’ve been on the Thwaites website recently you would have seen the announcement of the factory extension they are currently building.

If ever there was a manufacturer than planned for the long-term rather than just the normal short termalism than seems to be the norm these days it would be Thwaites.

As the largest manufacturer of site dumpers in the world, Thwaites have always been the go-to-company for the incomparable build quality of its dumpers and the quality of it back-up. The old adage that the salesman sells the first machine and the quality of its back-up sells the rest is never truer than when it is applied to Thwaites dumpers. With all the OEM’s that we deal with we can honestly say that the Thwaites Parts dept is second-to-none in terms of knowledge, physical stock and the willingness to go the extra mile.

The new 43,000sqm unit will see the parts re-located to it in 2025 which will see it move from one end of the Thwaites site to the other. Once completed it will enhance the parts offering and the old location used to make the production process more efficient. One thing I can guarantee won’t happen is that parts supply will be problematic unlike when Mecalac moved premises in 2024. I don’t know what went wrong with the planning of that move as it was only a mile down the road but in terms of parts it was an unmitigated disaster to which they have never really recovered. Parts became unavailable for months on end and, as the largest supplier of Mecalac, Terex and Terex/JCB parts in the UK,  was incredibly frustrating  to not only have a severe shortage of parts but have no idea when anything was going to become available again.

I’m 100% confident that the same will not happen with Thwaites when they move the parts but I can guarantee that here at PES we won’t be caught with ‘our pants down’. As the largest stockists of Thwaites dumper parts in the UK, 100% of them genuine Thwaites parts from Leamington Spa, we’ll ensure that we work closely with Thwaites to make sure we are well stocked to cover any disruption with the supply of parts from them.
