There comes a certain time of the year where all of a sudden there’s an increase in Yanmar 3TNM74F engines required for Kawasaki Mules and the last 4 weeks has seen us enter that period.

In the last of 4 weeks we have sold 12 Yanmar 3TNM74F engines for Mules, going from the tip of Scotland down to the Garden of England, Kent. This little Yanmar is a 0.993 litre diesel engine producing 17.8kW at 3600rpm and is an EPA Final Tier 4 emission compliant engine with a built-in altitude compensation valve.

If you’re wondering why we sell so many Yanmar 3TNM74F engines to go in Kawasaki Mule Pro-DX and Kawasaki Mule Pro-DXT at this time of the year I think its because this little utility vehicle is linked direct to agriculture as most farmers either seem to have the Kawasaki Mule or the John Deere Gator as their farm ‘runaround’ vehicle. Now the rain seems to have finally stopped farmers are out and about busy doing farming type things so the usage of the vehicle must go up.

As the largest stockists and suppliers of Yanmar TNV and Yanmar TNM engines in the UK, we always increase our stock holding of both the Yanmar 3TNM74F for the Kawasaki Mule and the 3TNV70 for the John Deere Gator at this time of year. This year it seems to be the Mule engine that is selling the most, whether that is linked to each brands market share I don’t know, but with forward orders for the 3TNM74F they are going out as soon as they come in. Supply from Yanmar in Japan is running behind delivery dates and we are running approx. 6 weeks behind schedule. With lead times stretching out we can only supply what is delivered so inevitably we are bound to run out at some point in time.

With either engine it’s not a lack of quality that’s causing the problems. if you just keep some oil in it, keep it cool and give it nice clean diesel to run on they can last for thousands of hours. If you don’t follow those 3 simple rules your Yanmar engine will go bang and stop, regretfully obeying those rules seems to be where the problem lies….
