Customer:           “Hello mate, have you got any Wacker plates in stock?”

Me:        “No sorry, but we do have Husqvarna compaction plates…….”

Same thing you might say……… However, this is not the case and here’s why.

Calling a compaction plate a ‘Wacker’ plate is very much the same as calling any brand of excavator a JCB. The common mis-conception is that a compaction plate whacks the ground to compact it. Now technically speaking this is not true. The plate on the bottom of the machine vibrates at such a speed that on/off pressure is applied to the ground at a quick pace allowing for the asphalt/soil to compact together. If the machine was to hit the ground with the same power of Thor’s Hammer then I’m pretty sure it would make an almighty ‘Whack’ noise, in which case the name Wacker plate would be a fitting name. Amazing as that would be to see, I don’t think using a compaction machine that whacks the ground as a time saving solution and could see operators losing toes and struggling to control a machine that I could only guess would operate as spontaneous as Tiggers tail. The fast pace vibrations of an LF75 Husqvarna compaction plate allow for the machine to be easily manoeuvrable when in motion. Fitted with Husqvarna’s patented low-vibration handles, the LF75 compaction plates reduce the vibration felt by the operator allowing for longer working hours.

With a weight of only 95Kgs the machine is easily transported from one site to the next. The machine also boasts a large corrosion free water tank meaning more work and less time filling it up.

The chances of customers asking for a compaction plate over a Wacker plate are slim as not only is it easier to say, let’s be honest it sounds better to. When looking for your next machine though, do search for compaction plates as you may miss an amazing bit of kit such as the Husqvarna LF75 compaction plate.
