As the largest supplier of Thwaites, Terex, Terex/JCB and Mecalac dumper parts in the UK PES have a long history of working with manufacturers to support their products in the field.
The name Mecalac is a fairly new name in the dumper world but its pedigree goes way back to the original Benford site dumpers who were based at The Cape, Warwick which incidentally, for those older people, is where Donald Healey had his factory for assembling Healey cars.
These days Mecalac dumpers is owned by Fayet Group who, amongst other things, also own Bomag and Dynapac. However, to get to where we are today with the evolvement of Mecalac we have gone from the original Benford name through to its acquisition by Terex in the 90’s. Terex expanded massively at this time buying Powerscreen screeners, Fermec backhoe loaders, Benford dumpers, Schaeef excavators, Italmachine telehandlers, Genie MEWP’s and telehandlers as it tried to become a large, diverse manufacturer to compete against the likes of Cat and Komatsu. We all know where that ended up!!
I think the writing was on the wall when Terex started making dumpers for JCB so you effectively had Terex dealers competing against JCB dealers selling the same product with just a different logo on.
When Terex started divesting itself of its acquisitions Mecalac purchased the ‘Benford’ bit which included the backhoe loader and continued manufacturing in Coventry. The backhoe loader production was moved to Turkey which left the Coventry site making the Mecalac dumpers and rollers. When Fayet Group purchased Mecalac in 2025 that then secured the company and production of Mecalac dumpers continues to this day at Coventry.
Throughout this history PES has been involved with all these different companies and was and still is the largest supplier of Benford, Terex, Terex/JCB and now Mecalac dumper parts in the UK. From the 80’s where our relationship started with Benford we are approaching nearly 50 years of involvement supplying dumper spare parts for their products. That’s the definition of a long-term relationship which not many companies can match and here at PES we look forward to a continued relationship with the Mecalac brand.
