We were lucky enough to receive the brand new Volvo ECR90 Excavator into our Yard just after SMT had finished the Hillhead show. Although the visit was brief, we had a few customers come and have a look at this beast of a machine and they were all impressed. Designed to deliver big-machine performance in a compact package, the Volvo ECR90F is a next-generation short-swing excavator built for operators who need power, productivity and versatility on demanding job sites.
One of the standout improvements is its impressive performance upgrade, featuring 28% more engine power, 15% more pump torque and 7% greater tractive force than its predecessor. The result? Faster cycle times, stronger digging and lifting capabilities, and increased productivity throughout the working day.
The ECR90F’s compact short-swing design allows operators to work confidently in confined spaces, making it ideal for utilities, construction, landscaping and urban projects where space is at a premium. Despite its compact footprint, it delivers the performance typically associated with machines in the 10-tonne class.
Operator comfort has also been significantly enhanced. A 30% larger cab provides more space and visibility, while the new 8-inch HD touchscreen and intuitive controls create a modern working environment designed to reduce fatigue and improve efficiency.
Maintenance is simpler too, with wide-opening service panels and ground-level access to daily check points, helping to maximise uptime and reduce servicing time. Increased hydraulic flow also means the ECR90F can power a wider range of attachments, giving operators even greater flexibility on site.
