Customers often say why should they spend more money buying a Thwaites dumper than if they bought the equivalent JCB, Mecalac or Wacker Neuson one.

As the largest supplier of genuine Thwaites parts in the UK, PES can categorically say that the parts back up is second-to-none, the residual values are unbeatable and the machines are incredibly well- built. The first two points are easy to prove, the third isn’t as how do you define well-built? You can look at a man, and to avoid the tag of being sexist, misogynist or whatever the latest accusation label is, other female/ transgender/ cross-dressing/ not-sure-today/wheelie bins/plants/small Shetland ponies/ general animals etc etc can be well built but, for the purposes of this, we’ll just say ‘man’ and he’s tall and muscular and compared to the librarian he’s stood next to he’s well-built. Just another quick disclaimer, I’m sure you get well-built librarians as well.

To define well-built in dumper terminology can be difficult but we now have the definite proof that Thwaites are. We recently sold a new Thwaites MACH2001 which is the 1 tonne, skip-loading dumper, to a customer and took he’s old one back in part exchange. His old Thwaites dumper was a 2006 which, by my limited mathematical ability, makes his machine 18 years old as near as sh*t is to swearing. The day came for the handover and the customer drove off with his nice new shiny one on his lorry, with a big beaming smile as he’d got a stonking deal from PES (I made that last bit up) and left his old Thwaites in the yard. With some trepidation I thought I’d go and look at it thinking what an earth is an 18-year-old dumper going to look like, this will be auction fodder.

How wrong was I !!!!!!! The Thwaites has now been through our workshop and been serviced and we treated it to a new seat so you don’t get ‘wet arse syndrome’ when you sit on it but the general condition of it was excellent. It’s obviously been greased and serviced as it was still on the original centre pivot bushes but it just goes to prove the quality of the Thwaites components it is built out of to be in this condition. The equivalent Ausa dumper (remember them) would have gone to the big dumper home in the sky years ago and the other Thwaites competitors wouldn’t be far behind it but there’s the Thwaites, still there ready for work. I know you have dog years but I reckon if you converted this from dumper years to human years this Thwaites would be pushing 70 years. I just hope that I’m in the same condition when I’m 70……………

So, there you have it, living proof that Thwaites dumpers are well-built and that’s why they are the market leader. When you are next thinking of buying a new dumper don’t just look at the cost of the initial purchase, look at the whole life costs. Ask yourself what’s the parts availability like, machines don’t earn money sat broken down on-site. Look at the build quality and how long it will last and finally look at residual values. Another dumper may be £1k cheaper to buy initially but if it’s worth £2k less than a Thwaites when you dispose of it it’s not cheaper.

Finally, wherever you are in the UK, if you buy a new Thwaites dumper and you need spare parts come to the largest supplier of Thwaites dumper parts in the UK and we’ll more than likely have your genuine Thwaites spare part on the shelf ready for next day delivery.
