Some of our competitors say that the reason we sell so many Thwaites parts is that we supply non-genuine parts and therefore they are cheaper.
This used to be true 20 years ago when we used to sell non-genuine Thwaites parts that we had sourced from alternative suppliers or simply had them manufactured ourselves, but it is not true now.
When we became a Thwaites dealer part of the agreement was that for us to become a dealer all our Thwaites parts had to be genuine parts from the factory at Leamington Spa, or Cubbington if you want to be more precise. Although it was never written down, this verbal agreement between Tim Frost, the then Thwaites Parts Manager, and us has always been abided by, after all if you can’t keep your word it’s a pretty poor state of affairs.
Customers have often wondered why, for instance, if they buy a Thwaites handbrake cable from another dealer it comes in a Thwaites bag but if they buy the same cable from us it doesn’t. The reason for that is that other dealers might buy one cable from Thwaites to keep on the shelf so it comes individually wrapped in a Thwaites bag. Such is the volume of our Thwaites parts business we order our handbrake cables in hundreds and therefore they don’t come individually bagged, if all our Thwaites parts came individually bagged in Thwaites packaging there would be one man in the Thwaites parts department whose sole job was to bag our parts up!!!
