Believe it or not, PES didn’t become the largest supplier of Thwaites, Terex, Terex/JCB and Mecalac spare parts overnight, it all really started with the humble centre pivot kit conception. In the early 90’s you couldn’t buy all the components for your Thwaites or Benford dumper centre pivot with one part number, you had to buy up to 20 different part numbers or guess which ones you might need and hope you didn’t anything else when you stripped it down. This inevitably happened and you had additional carriage costs and delays until the grease nipple/shim/nut arrived to finish the job with a dumper split in half in the workshop taking up room.

PES thought that it might be a good idea to produce various kits with everything in it that you might need to do the front top, front bottom, or back location in one bag with one part number and a competitive price thrown in for good measure. The competitive price was achieved by buying 6 months’ worth of stock of each item thus negotiating a keen price and bagging them all up when the stores were quiet first thing in the morning. This meant that when you had an order for one you didn’t have to pick individual items, it was already there on the shelf ready to go.

History tells us this was extremely successful and dumper centre pivot kits are still one of our most common sales items. The days of Benford dumpers are well and truly over though as it evolved into Terex, who also made dumpers for JCB, and then to Mecalac. Barford dumper centre pivot kits were then added in the mid 90’s but as they stopped being made in 2010 when Wordsworth Holdings went into administration, the amount of Barford dumpers in circulation is ever diminishing as the youngest dumper now would be a whopping 14 years old!!!!

Heading back to 2024 and today PES are the largest supplier of dumper parts in the UK, supplying parts for Thwaites, Terex, Terex/JCB and Barford dumpers from their base in Devon with over            £1 million worth of stock on the shelf ready for next day delivery. It all started though with the humble centre pivot which is where our success and future prosperity lies with further innovative ideas. It’s a simple concept…………. have a good idea, tell people about it, offer them value for money and provide a good service. It’s not rocket science but compared with other companies in our field, perhaps it is!!!!
